WOW Gold Secrets Review

IS WOW GOLD SECRETS REALLY ANY GOOD?

Hey, Bob here,

Here’s my review of the WOW Gold Secrets guide. It seems to be very popular among us World of Warcraft gamers and they’ve recently updated it for Cataclysm.

Anyways, I really don’t like having empty pockets in WOW and like most players, I can’t spend hours upon hours gold farming, I have a job! So this is why I think a good guide is worth using, as I’d rather spend most of my time PLAYING World of Warcraft, than making gold.

Now, to start off, this guide (like any REAL guide) is NOT a quick fix, instant or automatic World of Warcraft millionaire guide! Any guide that claims you can make 1000′s of gold per hour, without at least SOME ‘work’ is either a hack/cheat or just plain lying.

Okay, (finally!) onto the guide itself.

This guide comprises of various downloadable PDF guide books and charts;

  • Gold Secrets Gold Guide
  • Auctioneer Resource guide
  • Fishing guide
  • Profits Chart
  • Twinking Profits guide

Gold Secrets Gold Guide

This is the main guide and it’s quite massive (which put me off it at the beginning), at over 400 pages (eek!).

What the real guides normally show you are ways to use the in game features to the absolute maximum effect and in the right order to make those big figure gold numbers.

And this guide is no different, it’s mostly about ‘working’ smarter than ‘working’ harder. I mean, instead of mining for hours upon hours in an area where so many other people are doing the same (which to me sounds like VERY boring!), I can look in their guide and find a place where hardly anyone is mining yet still has lots of mining nodes.

Also, a lot of the guide is about using the Auction House to maximum effect for some great profit.

So you still have to work at making your gold but with the right strategies, you can reduce this ‘work’ time to an absolute minimum, which allows for actual play time in WOW! *shock*

What I really did like is the fact that is has gold tips in a ton of locations and all the professions. So it doesn’t really matter where you are, you can normally do a search in their gold guide for where you are and find some gold making technique for that area.

Their gold making strategies include;

  • Rare profession recipes.
  • Specific techniques for professions on which items are best to make, in specific areas.
  • Rare locations for gathering professions.
  • Which solo and stealth instance runs work the best (this is my personal favorite).
  • Special techniques on WHAT to make and sell, plus WHEN (this is very important) to sell on the AH.
  • Unusual locations to grind mobs, who drops the most loot and also who are good for leveling (although this guide really isn’t a WOW leveling guide).
  • Some cool (and some of them were quite funny) ways of using your class and professions to make gold.
  • Specific gold making tips for the Cataclysm areas.
  • A list of ‘daily quests’, which you can repeat.
  • How to use the Public Test Realm patch notes to make lots of gold.
  • How to make lots of gold selling special pets.
  • Using ‘vanity items’ to make gold.

I liked the fact that it’s jammed packed with photos and maps (I’m infamous for getting lost in the real world and in World of Warcraft!!) of lots of areas and has some really detailed gathering maps (mining etc). Plus it has some some real gems in it (can anyone say… Vial of the Sands? LOL).

WOW Gold Guide Map

To be honest, I think the main ways you’ll be making lots of gold with this guide would be using their;

  • Auction House strategies.
  • Solo instance runs (or stealth runs if you’re a rogue).
  • Rare profession recipes.
  • Rare gathering locations.

Personally, I would recommend focusing on their AH gold making techniques and solo instance runs. Why? Because once you’ve worked out these AH techniques (I recommend reading the AH sections at least a couple of times), it’s on semi auto pilot. I mean, you make your special recipes, buy the specific list of items from AH, start up your AH addons and your items are then in the AH system, waiting to make you lots of gold in WOW.

WOW Auction House

While the AH is doing its thing, you can go away and actually have fun soloing a couple of specific instances for lots of gold :)

That’s just my personal choice though, some people might like to use their rare gathering locations etc.

Auctioneer Resource guide

I found this bonus guide most useful out of all the bonuses. It gives you a load of extra information on how to use the AH to make lots of WOW gold. How to search for the right items if you’re into the buy and sell market. Plus it points to some great WOW addons for the auction house. It compliments the main Auction House tips from the main guide really well.

Fishing guide

This was a good read and has a ton of fishing info (quick levelling, best places to fish etc) but to be honest with you, I still don’t like to fish (I still find fishing boring), so I don’t use it. Sorry to those who (somehow!) have fun fishing but I absolutely hate it!

Profits Chart

This is a cool chart covering levels 15 to 85. Each level range shows the mob name and what you can get from them. For example, from their level 68-72 range, they have a ‘Eclipsion Blood Elves – Shadowmoon Valley at Eclipse Point’ entry, which shows you they drop Netherweave cloth, Sunfury Signet and the Arcane Tome for Scryer rep.

Twinking Profits guide

This is pretty cool. It tells you what items are best for your twink in various level ranges, although at the moment I’m not bothering with twinks.

THE BAD – What I did NOT like about this guide

  1. It’s over 400 pages long and takes some time to read through. You might be thinking, what’s wrong with that but I do think this will confuse some people. I think it would be much better to have a kind of a ‘summary guide’ which shows the main gold making techniques for each area, with a link to the relevant part in the more detailed main guide.
  2. A couple of times they repeat the same gold making technique in different areas but in a slightly different way. It confused me a little.

My advice to you, if you want to get their guide, is to skim read it first and find a section that really relates to you. Then read that section step by step. DON’T try to read the whole thing the first time round (like I did lol!).

THE GOOD – What I LIKED about this guide

  1. It gives step by step instructions on how to make a TON of money in WOW. Again, you still have to ‘work’ a bit but following their strategies you should dramatically improve the amount of gold you make in WOW (just don’t expect some kind of automated gold making addon!).
  2. It’s 100% legal (ok, maybe I’m being paranoid about the ban thing but people DO get banned for gold hacks and gold buying).
  3. It’s been updated for Cataclysm.
  4. And covers levels up to 85.

THE SUMMARY – Is it worth getting?

Just don’t expect a magic button to generate you millions of gold in WOW. Get into the routine of following their gold making tactics, the more you do them, the less time it will take and you should notice your weekly gold levels really improving.

So overall, I’m very happy with this guide and it is my current favorite WOW gold guide.

Watch the video below for more information. It’s by the guy who made the WOW Gold Secrets guide. Once he gets past his sales introduction, he actually shows you he knows what he is talking about. So it’s well worth watching.
